Video to DVD & CD

DVD Production

Screne Productions can produce DVDs in any quantity from just one to many thousands.

We offer two levels of service.

1. A basic transfer direct from your tape to a DVD with a simple text menu, useful for one offs or short runs.

2. A bespoke service using our digital editing suite. The first stage involves authoring - encoding the original video to the digital MPEG2 format that DVD uses, adding menus etc. How the final DVDs are produced depends on the number of copies required.

Short runs of 1 to 200 copies are usually individually recorded (burnt) onto blank DVDs and should play on most stand-alone DVD players and suitably equipped personal computers. See Compatibility

For 200+ copies the DVDs are mechanically pressed from a glass master and should play on all stand-alone DVD players and on suitably equipped personal computers.

Having said this, there are a lot of variables involved in DVD production and the break point of 200 copies can vary depending on your individual requirements (eg. if you intend to run off more copies at a later date), so please contact us.

VCD Production

VCD discs (discs that play in standalone VCD players) are now a rather rare commodity as DVD is gaining popularity so it is more usual to encode the video programme to an MPEG-1 file on a CDROM suitable for playing on a personal computer.

The same general rules apply about copy numbers as with DVDs.
